“Rain” by Kevin Michael Johnson

Fly a kite out in the rain
Let the tears wash off your pain
Make a kite of cares and then
Toss it to the wind.

On the end of your care kite
Tie your problems, make them tight
In the loneness of the night
give them to the wind

Let the rain wash off the years
The lightning strikes, but strikes no fear
Give the kite string a slight jeer
So the string draws taunt

Cut the string and let it fly
Cross the dark distructive sky
Take a breath and then out cry
"YOU ARE MINE NO MORE!"

Let the rain wash off your pain
Off from you and down the drain
Never to be felt again
It is yours no more
