“Granular Experience” by Z. Stein

escaping the beach as the lightening strikes,
the clouds close,
similar to nothing,
absolutely nothing.

sand castle blown over,
opportune time to enter,
just you and the obese boy named Charlie
go into the water
containing energy that surges through.
similar to nothing,
absolutely nothing.

as the chains of former captivity are released
you sit there,
nipples sensitive,
like the
spirit
that you have always felt is watching.
put on the flip-flops,
returning home damp and
changed.
similar to nothing,
absolutely nothing.
