“Fast Wind” by Robert McManes

no one

is fast enough

to catch the wind

we all have tried

legs pump up and down

lungs ready to explode

inexperience of youth shows

eventually we learn

to let the wind flow ahead

the goal becomes a chase

without expectations

emotions run pure

always in front

always behind

no one can win

a race against

the wind
