“Dracula’s Castle” by Robert O. Adair

There is nothing

like Dracula’s castle

depicted in dim, brooding

black and white.

The eerie atmosphere

playing to our natural

fear of the dark,

the dark where THINGS

half seen creep about,

where our most used

sense for orientation

is impaired or useless!

Known things may be scary

but those unknown more so!

What is that noise?

What is that over there?

Did I see something move

or was it an illusion?

Someone or something

screamed in the dark.

A helpless victim?

A ghost of the dead?

A vampire? A zombie?

I don’t believe in such things,

except when I’m all alone in the dark!
