“Transmutation” by Eva Xanthopoulos

I bleached eyes in hopes of re-birthing the optimist within the world,
I streaked the sky pink to bring out Madame nature's blushing cheeks,
I stained glass to perfect it, everything's more beautiful when hued,
fueled with layers of pain(t). I took the world's weight and devoured it,
in hopes of sending globe to a different elevation, a different view
to reflect on the blackish blue hue in the bags of its eyes. Come on
little world: Transmute from black to white. Shed grey layer like frightened
locust and set yourself ablaze. Like the sun, come to light. Come to life!
