“The Flesh of Vandals” by Jacob Erin-Cilberto

wrapped around the echoes
of a poet's voice
sleeping with buried children
graves of pen bones scattered
words creak like rotten teeth
beneath vines and whiplashed themes

stone walls of sound
they want to rise in the night
while perpetual beggars converge
in flashlight bewilderment

unsure of the footing.
