“The Dragon” by Cara Vitadamo

The scales fall away
Like memories into the dark abyss.

If there was light in this awkward sphere
There would be a beautiful shine.

But the black stigma hides the gleam
Of thousands of twinkling gems.

The beast cannot see her luster
And craves her satisfaction.
