“Ghost Memories” by Megan Johnston

He takes a walk back in time
To a place where things are
All aligned and make sense.
Now as an old man the
Boy inside is harder to find.

As he searches through the attic,
Under layers of dust
In the abandoned farm house,
He comes across a picture,
A picture of his family.
Grasping the frame, he walks
Down the stairs and into the barn

In which he spent so many
Summer days, working and playing.
He quickly glances to the side
And can picture
Himself and his siblings playing in the
Hay bales,
Laughing and giggling,
But those laughs are long gone.

Walking out of the barn he
Wanders to the pond,
Where in high school his friends would come
And swing on the rope falling into the water
Below.

He glances up and sees himself at seventeen
His friends cheering him on, to swing.
He laughs out loud and nods.
Making his way out of the small forest,
He comes across a tree which looks very
Familiar to his memories.
He pushes away aged rubbish, revealing,

"HM + ST = Forever"

He touches the tree and closes his aged eyes,
a tear falls down his wrinkled cheek.
When his eyes open he sees her,
His love, glancing at him from the distance.
It wasn't the way she looked before the cancer took her from him,
But she looked the way she did when he first saw her.
Smiling and holding the picture close to his heart, he
Walks out of the woods and back home, still with a single
Tear in his eye.

“What Do You Do?” by Jesse Gamache

Some people say that there is
Do you remember when we first met
One special person out there, for
I sure do
Every one to meet sometime in their
It was some time
Lives
In early September
But what if you already met, and lost that person?
Though you were lazy about it
What do you do now that you have lost
You made me wait around
The one person that makes your life complete?
I was so crazy about you
They are on your mind every second of the day
I didn't mind
The very thought of them puts a huge smile across
So I was late for class
Your face
I locked my bike to yours
Your whole being, lights up with a glance
It wasn't hard to find
From their eyes to yours
Your painted flowers oh
Your life seems surreal
Guess that I was afraid
When you are with them
That if you rode away
Your whole life revolves around
You might not roll back
That single person in your life
My direction real soon
And makes you feel like
Well I was crazy about you then
You're worth something, and not
And now the craziest thing of all
Just a no body that is not wanted
Over 10 years have gone by
Or appreciated at all
And your still mine
Sometimes you may take them for granted
Locked in time
Knowing that they will always be there
Lets rewind
But what if something happens?
Do you remember
Forcing you two to break up
When we first moved in together
Maybe it was something you did
The piano took up the living room
That made them not want to be with you anymore
You'd play me boogie woogie
Now that they're gone
I played you love songs
You feel incomplete and depressed
You'd say we're playing house
You try to chase them, asking for forgiveness
Now you still say we are
Wishing they could take you back
We build our get away
And for everything to go back
Up in a tree we found
To the way it was before
We felt so far away
But they don't want anything of that sort
Though we were still in town
"We can still be friends"
I remember watching
That's what they tell you
That old tree burn down
But you are still in love
I took a picture that
And wish they were too
I don't like to look at
So you spend your time figuring out
Well all these times
What you can do or say
They come and go
To make them come back to you
Along don't seem so long
When you are in this position
Over 10 years have gone by
And this is your life
We cant rewind
And you have lost the most important person
We're locked in time
In you're entire life
But your still mine
What do you do?
Do you remember?

“Something Left Unnoticed” by Kyle Klink

These hallways hold the hundreds
of hostile, frightened youth
all searching for the right rail
to latch on, and ride it out
without feeling regret or remorse
for their hurried hustle through adolescence
Frustrated and feeling left out and forgotten
they sit and wait for the train
that will take them away
to a world of working, and wages, and pain
not remembering the days and nights they're leaving behind
or the friends and family
that came along for the ride
As time goes on, the star-light in their eyes
slowly fades to black
until the silent silhouettes of former students
and their sacredly-kept secrets
are just a figment of a forgotten past
fragments that fit like a puzzle with missing pieces
